“Thank You For Saving Me”

Thank you for saving me!!! Those are the words nine-year-old Connor Norris wrote on the poster he made for his ambulance and fire crews. He also drew a Cypress Creek Ambulance.

On February 5, 2020, Connor was riding his bike to a friend’s house in his Cypress area neighborhood when he was hit by a car.

He was seriously injured with a broken leg, collarbone, and cheek. He also had hairline fractures to his pelvis and two vertebrae and a large laceration on top of his head. Connor was not wearing his helmet.

After being stabilized by CCEMS and Cypress Creek Fire personnel, Connor was flown by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann.

Connor and his CCEMS and Cypress Creek Fire Crews

When the 9-1-1 call came into the Cypress Creek EMS Communications Center, Sarah Otte gathered the information. Once she entered the address and nature of the call into the computer she stayed on the line with the caller gathering more details while Rebecca Densmore dispatched a Cypress Creek Ambulance and Victoria Castillo dispatched Cypress Creek Fire Department’s Engine 21. Onboard the ambulance was Paramedic Christy Flowers Stermer and EMT Ricky Perez. Captain Jerry Broussard and Firefighter/EMT Michael Lagesse were on Engine 21.

Connor presented his THANK YOU poster to his crews during a reunion on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Cypress Creek EMS. The crews on hand for the celebration included everyone from his call takers and dispatchers to his Fire and EMS crew. Everyone was able to chat with Connor, his mother Aimee, his grandparents Randy and Darla Mueller and his 20-month-old sister Ellie. His crews were all eager to sign Connor’s cast.

Fortunately, Connor did not have any internal injuries so he was only in the hospital for three days. He is expected to make a full recovery. Friday, February 28th is Connor’s Tenth Birthday. Happy Birthday, Connor!
