19-Year-old Caleb Jordan is the September 2019 Volunteer of the Month. Caleb joined CCEMS in May of 2019 as an EMT-Basic. Since then he has donated 342 hours of his time to the community. The award was presented to Caleb by Board President Glen Henning at the regular monthly meeting of the Cypress Creek EMS Board of Directors.
Caleb says he chose CCEMS “because it’s a great place to gain experience at your level of certification” and also because “It’s a high call volume system.”
He says the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. What he likes about being a volunteer is that he is able to be with the patient during the entirety of the call and he is able to see every set of vitals and every treatment.
Caleb says he would absolutely recommend being a volunteer at CCEMS. He says “It is an opportunity to become less rough around the edges on your skills and clinical knowledge” and he believes “there is no other place that can offer the same experience as Cypress Creek.
He’d like to give special shout out to the crews Medic 53, 57, and 59. He says he’s been able to learn a lot just from being about them. Caleb’s day job is working at Tide Dry Cleaners, so we are guessing that he gets a special deal on dry cleaning his uniforms.
