SUMMARY:  The Training Coordinator has primary responsibility for oversight of the Field Training and directly tracks and records employee progression, credentialing, and completion of required training and education within the organization. The Training Coordinator will collaborate with the Clinical Department team to plan, implement, review, and enhance clinical practice and performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan and implement the New Hire Academy.
  • Manage the Field Training program including direct oversight of the Field Training Officers (FTO). 
  • Developing and tracking Professional Improvement Plans (PIPs) for field employees.
  • Developing Professional Development Plans for employees seeking to progress within the organization.
  • Serve as administrator for software systems to track employee education, training, and progress.
  • Serve as an educator for courses offered at CCEMS; monitor and supervise any guest lecturers or staff utilized during practical skill training.
  • Coordinate and teach continuing education “card courses” including CPR/BLS, ACLS, ACLS-EP, PHTLS, TCCC, PEPP, and AMLS.
  • Develop and coordinate internal continuing education courses.
  • Support and assist with EMT-B classes and other educational programs.
  • Provide quality improvement/quality assurance for the organization through chart reviews and sentinel event investigations.
  • Serve in a direct field role to assist with staffing; hours variable and dependent upon organizational needs.

Clinical Department Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate and/or assist in Clinical Department duties.
  • Assist in the evaluation of CCEMS personnel determined to ready for promotional testing.
  • Adhere to departmental processes for data and information sharing, accountability practices, and support clinical operations and directives.
  • Work collaboratively to implement strategies to improve clinical outcomes.
  • May be required to function in a direct clinical capacity by responding to calls, providing delivery of patient care as needed, or assessing the delivery of patient care rendered by CCEMS personnel; and to provide recommendations regarding observed practices in the field.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years 911 EMS experience, with at least three years as an In-Charge Paramedic (or equivalent).
  • Two years 911 EMS Field Training Officer (FTO) experience (or equivalent).
  • Bachelor’s degree or Associates degree preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond to complaints and/or concerns from the community, the CCEMS personnel, or other partner. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATH ABILITY:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, mean, median, proportions, and percentages and to draw and interpret bar and line graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to utilize common web-based applications, email, office suite, and similar office productivity applications.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License or ID Card.
  • Valid Texas Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification or Licensed Paramedic and maintain ability to recertify according to the guidelines set forth by the Texas Department of Health.
  • Current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Current AHA ACLS, NAEMT AMLS, NAEMT PHTLS, and PEPP provider certifications.
  • NAEMSE Level I Instructor Certification
  • Texas EMS Instructor certification
  • NIMS/ICS-100, 200, 700, 800
  • NIMS/ICS-300, 400, 775 (within 1 year of hire)
  • Credentialing as a Field Supervisor/P3 (progression within 1 year of hire; specific plan dependent on employee).
