Fall EMT Class Gets Underway

The Fall UAB EMT-Basic class got underway Tuesday Night, August 21. UAB stands for User Advisory Board and that group is made up of emergency agencies for which CCEMS handles 9-1-1 and dispatch. UAB Fire Departments sponsor the class and CCEMS coordinates it. Most of the students in the class come from area fire departments, but there are usually civilians, as well.

This class has three students that are not affiliated with fire departments. The number of students from each department is as follows:

ESD 48 Fire Department – 1

Cypress Creek Fire Department  Р5

Klein Fire Department – 12

Ponderosa Fire Department – 2

Spring Fire Department – 4

There are two such classes each year. The Spring 2018 Class graduated in May. The Fall class graduates on December 8. Registration for the Spring Class will open up in early 2019. Classes meet on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 to 10 pm and students must also put in 60 hours of clinical time on CCEMS ambulances.
